What are anti-wrinkle injections?
Anti-wrinkle injections, also known as muscle relaxers or neuromodulators, are injectable cosmetic treatments used to remove fine lines and wrinkles, preventing them from forming or reforming. Repetitive facial muscle movements such as smiling, frowning, squinting, and scrunching, can cause fine lines to settle in the face and remain there even when your face is resting.
Anti-wrinkle injections work by blocking the signal between the nerve ending and muscle, stopping the muscle from contracting and therefore reducing movement. In turn, reducing the lines in the face associated with movement.
Natural ageing contributes to a tired and heavy appearance as skin loses elasticity and collagen production decreases over time. Anti-wrinkle treatments soften fine lines and wrinkles, tighten and lift the targeted areas to rejuvenate and enhance your overall appearance.

Treatment Areas
Bio-remodelling treatments help to reduce premature signs of ageing and restore skin hydration, luminosity, firmness and lift. It is a bio-remodelling injectable that can be used to treat the following areas:
Procedure
Wrinkle relaxers contain a dose of naturally purified proteins that are precisely injected into the specific treatment area and temporarily stops the muscle from contracting. The relaxation of muscle activity smooths out the lines present in the area and help to prevent the further formation of frown lines and creases.

Results of the anti-wrinkle injections will take up to two weeks to reach maximum results. Between days 2-7 post treatment you will notice your facial lines and wrinkles reducing and between 2-4 weeks the maximal effect will be achieved.
Depending on the extent of your fine lines and wrinkles, the effects can start
reducing at the 2month mark and at approximately 4 months about 80% of the effect will have worn off. Most clients choose to have their treatments every 3-4 months however, this will be determined by your preferences, your individual needs and response to each treatment.

Patients should be aware that these cosmetic injectables are different to dermal fillers. Anti-ageing injections are not designed to fill fine lines and wrinkles immediately but to treat the problem at its cause, which is the constant natural muscle contractions. Wrinkle relaxers give these muscles a temporary rest, providing the lines and wrinkles time to dissipate and prevent them from reoccurring. Results of anti-ageing treatments are not permanent, lasting 3-5 months (varies from patient to patient).
Aftercare
After your anti-wrinkle treatment, you may experience mild swelling, tenderness, or bruising at the site of injection. We recommend you follow the below guidelines to ensure your treatment is successful and to minimise any unwanted side effects.
Aftercare for anti-wrinkle injections can include:

Avoid exercise and strenuous activity for at least 24 hours

Do not rub or touch the treated areas

Keep upright for the first four hours post-treatment

Avoid sleeping on your face the first night

To reduce the risk of bruising, avoid alcohol and strenuous exercise for 24 hours

Avoid blood-thinning medications
-
Avoid beauty treatments such as facials, peels, massages for at least two weeks

Avoid excessive pressure to the face following treatment for 14 days including facials, eyebrow/eyelash treatments, other cosmetic procedures and massages

Avoid using active skin care for 24 hours post treatment

Do anti-wrinkle injections hurt?
Anti-wrinkle injections feel like a slight pinch or sting. Most patients do not require topical or local anaesthetic for pain relief. Ice and vibration are usually sufficient to minimise discomfort.
How long do anti-wrinkle injections last?
Anti-wrinkle injections last three to four months on average. The expected duration of results is dependent on a number of factors including the dosage administered, the skin’s condition and the degree of muscular use in the treatment area. When the treatment wears off, the muscle simply regains its prior strength and normal movement. The lines and wrinkles also gradually return. After repeated treatments, some patients notice that the muscle’s strength naturally diminishes from being kept in a state of relaxation. This is a desirable effect that can lead to longer breaks between treatment sessions and reduced costs.
